Beat the Rain

I hate rain.  Irrespective of when it comes — summers, winter, spring, whatever season. Rain forces you to stay indoors; be less active; and it just makes life so soggy. The only people who can enjoy rain (or be indifferent to it) are those who have cars. I am not one of them.

So when the forecast for today was 90% chance rain, I was not too happy. Not just because of the reasons stated above, but also because I had a long run (12 miles) to do. It started raining in the morning and rained continuously. I waited till evening and when it still didn’t stop, I was forced to take a call — either skip the long run or run in the rain. I chose the latter.

It was a tough run. The weather was cold (53 F, 11 C), windy and there was of course the rain. And as usual I had nobody running with me. For some reason I decided to do an out-and-back route of 2 KM. Which I did 10 times. Yes, it was boring but I find shorter routes easier to process.

In the end, I am happy to have finished. That too in a decent time. Now to hope that I don’t fall sick.
